Tuber Indicum aroma intensity is: 0.5-2

whereas Europe Melanosporum truffles aroma intensity would score: 6-8.5

For the same size,LtN Melanosporum is lighter than Tuber Indicum and Tuber Hima­layensis;
if put in water, most LtN Melanosporum truffles float while most Tuber Indicum and Tuber
Himalayensis truffles sink to the buttom.

Most Tuber Indicum and all Tuber Himalayensis habitats are in Yunnan and Sichuan province.

LtN Tuber Melanosporum habitat is around 1500km away from Indicum and Himalayensis habitat.



Tube Indicum has the highest yearly harvest volume of about 45-65 tons in China;

Tuber Himalayensis has the second highest yearly harvest volume of about 8.5-11.5 tons in China;

LtN Tuber Melanosporum has the lowest yearly harvest volume of about 1-2 tons in China.

There are generally three types of black winter truffles in China, namely LtN Melanosporum (our truffles), Tuber Indicum and Tuber Himalayensis (Yunnan truffles). For those truffle importers overseas, these different species of truffles might cause confusion among them from several aspects, which will be explained here.
